While we want to be an efficient, productive resource for our clients, we also want QA Mentor to be an enjoyable place to work, where our team members get along and work together. We want our staff to be more than just mere co-workers, but also friends who have fun together. Team building and team recreation activities are one way we aid in achieving that level of comradery.
While team building activities have a goal of developing team skills such as communication, problem-solving, and leadership, team recreation is about having fun together, encouraging each other, and respecting each other with a little friendly competition thrown into the mix. QA Mentor wants to help our staff develop strong team skills in order to work together effectively, as well as praise the accomplishments of the individual at work and at play. That fine balance between the two motivates our team members to care about each other and the company as a whole.
Throughout the year we have company games of soccer, cricket, and paintball that coincide with company-sponsored picnics. In the spirit of competition, we organize foosball challenges, arm-wrestling competitions, chess competitions, QA Trivia competitions, and Pot Luck dinners with the best dish contest. Each year the company holds a New Year Party to celebrate a year of success and the next year’s expectations.
In January, our Leadership Team meets in NYC for a two-day event where we review the previous year’s accomplishments and the current year’s goals. We also use that time to brainstorm new and exciting team building opportunities and company recreational events in order to have fun and learn to work and play together as a strong, supportive, cohesive unit.
